Since 2006 Sadie Madole has specialized in legal recruiting in Washington, D.C., focusing her practice on associate and in-house placements. Sadie practiced law for 10 years prior to legal recruiting.

Placements and Interviews

Over the last ten years, Sadie has placed over 120 lawyers in positions with law firms and companies in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. She has also obtained over 300 interviews for candidates (including first and second rounds, lunches, and final rounds with Managing Partners, General Counsels and CEO’s). At each stage of the interview cycle, Sadie coaches candidates on interviewing strategies, including how to tell their story, the relevant data points to research on firms and companies, questions to ask interviewers, and questions to expect.

Client Relationships

Sadie has developed longstanding relationships with law firms, recruiting coordinators, companies and human resource professionals in downtown DC, Virginia and Maryland. Sadie meets with clients routinely to foster and maintain these relationships. Over the years Sadie has met with over 200 clients, including over half of the AmLaw 200 firms, Fortune 500 and start up companies, and boutique law firms.

Presentations, Forums and Publications

Sadie has given presentations and/or provided counseling to students at law schools including Harvard, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, Catholic University, George Washington University, and George Mason University. The presentations have discussed which practice areas are currently in demand in DC, credentials and competitiveness, preparing for interviews, and strategies for pursuing public and private sector hiring. Sadie has provided career planning advice and counseling to in- house attorneys on topics including resume preparation, networking strategies, interview preparation, and the use of social media in a job search as part of the Washington Metro Area Corporate Counsel Association’s (WMAACA) Career Development Forums in March of 2014 and November 2013. Sadie has also authored articles published in the Legal Times, including “Tell Me About Yourself: The Best Interviews,” (September 3, 2007) and “An Interview Must: Do Your Homework.” (January 5, 2009).

Prior Professional Experience

Before Sadie established Madole Legal Search, she worked for over eight years as an Attorney Search Consultant and Senior Managing Director at a preeminent Washington recruiting firm recognized as the best legal recruiter in DC for several years.

Sadie practiced law for 10 years before transitioning to legal recruiting. From 2001 to 2006 Sadie served as Senior Counsel and Attorney-Advisor in the Office of the General Counsel of the Treasury Department. Sadie advised the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Management on government contracts, appropriations, health and pension benefit plans, privacy and employment matters. Before her public service, Sadie was a litigation associate for five years with a boutique where she specialized in healthcare, ERISA and insurance defense litigation. Sadie also worked for NBC Network News in Washington as a Futures Editor where she covered news events including Supreme Court arguments and Congressional hearings. Sadie interviewed Cabinet and Congressional members, the Attorney General and several preeminent attorneys for use on NBC Nightly News, the Today show and MSNBC.

Sadie graduated from Catholic University, Columbus School of Law in 1994, where she served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. She received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, cum laude, in 1991 from Arizona State University.
